Mountain lake fishing at Zollner
Lake Zollnersee is located at 1,780 m above sea level in a beautiful high moor.
Millstream
1 kilometer Wiesenbach, feeder stream to the Gail
The Mühlbach is a branch of the Valentinbach and flows through the village of Mauthen. The Lederer sawmill stands on the edge of the village. The actual fishing route begins there and meanders for a kilometer through meadows and bushes to the mouth of the Gail. Fishermen can reach the stream via Mauthen or via the Gailuferweg on the right. The abundance of grayling brings even beginners a lot of luck!
Valentine’s Gorge
6 kilometers of wild rocky gorge, crystal-clear mountain water, nature reserve
The famous rocky gorge begins in Mauthen. From there, the Valentinbach meanders through a wild and romantic gorge with 300-meter-high rock faces. The initial 1.5 kilometers are accessible to fishermen via a viewing jetty. The fish are very shy and if you don’t stalk them, you’re out of luck. As the gorge is shady, there are plenty of fish, but not too big. At the end of the developed climbing route, you enter the gorge wearing water shoes and rockfall helmets.
The upper part of the gorge can be reached via the Plöckenstraße, where 600 meters after the Ederwirt inn you reach the Valentinbach via the Römerpfad, which plunges over eight waterfalls into the gorge at this point. Deep green pools are home to many small but also some large fish, such as brown trout and char with beautiful markings. Fly fishing in this area is particularly difficult and physically demanding, but the scenery is beautiful.
Angerbach valley
4 kilometers from Grünsee to the source
In the flat Angerbach mountain valley, which rises steadily and gently (from 1,200 to 1,500 meters altitude), you can enjoy tranquil fishing in alpine terrain. Every now and then, whitewater barriers with deep pools interrupt the course of the stream. This is followed by flat, wide stretches of gravel, followed by torrential rapids. Surrounded by nature, alpine flowers, meadows and high forests. The Angerbach valley is still home to the original brown trout with its beautiful markings. For fishermen with patience and skill in targeted spot casting.
Green lake
A reservoir that unmistakably resembles a natural lake. With pristine shores, bright green water and great depth visibility, the lake is nestled in the lovely alpine landscape at 1,250 meters above sea level.
The lake is quiet. You find yourself in a relaxing world. The mountains are reflected in the water. The Plöckenhaus is a ten-minute walk away.
Lake Cellon
The rock tower of Cellon is reflected in the lake. It is located at 1,200 meters above sea level, right next to the Plöckenhaus and is fed by a torrent called the “Kuchlbach”.
